Sunday morning, while in escort for one of our fallen heroes coming home from Afghanistan, Jerry Blanton crashed his bike on I-26 by running into another rider. Jerry is in ICU at Mission Hospital. He has lots of church and family around him. His wife Cynthia is with him. He has a broken leg, and both broken arms, lacerated liver, and facial lacerations. No brain trauma was detected, so some prayers have already been answered. Prayer is needed for him to recover from his injuries to move out of ICU. Pray he has no lingering issues and that he is healed fully as he was before. Thanks for the reports from Mike and Pam. We will continue to report on this as we learn more. See comments as they come in.

I am so glad that I was sent this link to the biker down site. I was the first person to provide medical care on the scene with Mr. Blanton. As I helped him I was praying that the Lord would wrap his arms around him and give him the strength he needed to fight and stay with us. If anyone has contact with the family and him, please let him know I am praying for him…God Bless each of you
I was the ride captain for this mission and this was his first mission. I ask the Lord to watch over him and his family.
I can’t begin to say how sad this is. Catiballard. Thank you so much for providing medical care to Jerry. This is a horrible accident and on his first mission also. Praying for his recovery. PGR brothers and sisters are here for him and his family. Prayers for them.
Minnesota is thinking of our PGR brother.
Wolfrider,
I have since learned that this was NOT his first mission. He is a member of the SC PGR and has been on several missions. I’m going to go by the hospital in the morning and check on him.
My name is Frank Kracher, I work at WLOS-TV, and I’m reaching-out to members of Patriot Guard who may know Jerry Blanton. We at News 13 in Asheville are so sorry about this terrible accident. We would like to tell Jerry’s story, as well as the story of the PGR. Please feel free to contact me at 828-777-2474. Thank you.
Jerry just wanted you to know that many prayers are going out for you. May God wrap his arms around you and bless you with a full and speedy recovery. We look forward to riding with you soon.
Prayers are going up for Jerry, his family, and the PGR from CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association). We pray for a speedy and painless recovery.
Patriots,
I was Blessed yesterday with having the honor of visiting Jerry Blanton at the VA hospital in Asheville. Jerry looked pretty good, but still has up and down days. He asked me to say thank you to you all for your thoughts and prayers, which he said have been working. Each new day brings back more of his memory, which is really triggered by conversations and visits from people he knows. I urge anyone that is able, to stop in and say hello, he’s in room 322 on floor 3 West.
Please take the time to visit, especially through the weekend if possible, as he’s not going anywhere for awhile. Don’t bring lunch and plan to stay long, he gets tired fast, but he needs lots of short visits, he said they do help.
Please continue to send up your prayers, there is nothing stronger than a good prayer chain. Jerry asks you to remember our veterans around the world, and don’t forget our men and women still serving today around the world, so we can remain free!
Semper Fidelis,
John “Landmine” Collins
Western NC Regional Captain
